Miss USA Hopefuls Arrive in Las Vegas
The 2013 Miss USA Pageant hopefuls starts arriving today at Planet Hollywood. They have a busy weekend of wardrobe fittings for swimsuits and gowns and then on Monday start a rigorous schedule of filming and interviews with judges.
The Quad headliners Recycled Percussion will welcome the hopefuls Monday at the hotel’s Catalyst Bar, with Miss New Hampshire taking part in a flair bartender challenge. On Tuesday, they re-create iconic country hairstyles to film at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in Harrah’s with a line-dancing contest. Reigning 2012 Miss USA Nana Meriwether hosts next Thursday’s paddleboard racing challenge at Go Pool in Flamingo, with contestants in their new ViX swimsuits.
Party time is set for Chateau Nightclub at the Paris next Friday, and then June 12 is the first preliminary competition at PH Live in Planet Hollywood. The live NBC telecast with pageant owner Donald Trump is Sunday, June 16 (Father’s Day), with hosts Giuliana Rancic and Nick Jonas, who will be joined by his brothers Joe and Kevin as entertainment. Jeannie Mai from The Style Network will provide live backstage dressing room mayhem commentaries during the telecast. The judges will be announced next week.
The contestants will fulfill charitable commitments while in Las Vegas for Best Buddies, with a musical performance by our beloved Opportunity Village Elvis and a parachute challenge. The pageant queens will pack meals for Stop Hunger Now and also to benefit the food situation deteriorating in Haiti.
Fans of the pageant can vote for their favorite contestants right up until the night before the broadcast at MissUSA.com or at the Miss USA Facebook page. For the first time, there also will be an Instagram challenge with fans submitting their own “crowning moment” photos. The traditional Miss USA welcome dinner will be at Buca di Beppo just off the Strip next Wednesday.

Miss USA 2013 is June 16!
The 2013 Miss USA competition to air live June 16 on NBC (9-11 P.M. ET) from Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The 2013 Miss USA Competition will feature contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Contestants will be judged in three categories: Swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The show concludes with one contestant ultimately being crowned Miss USA 2013.

Last year’s telecast concluded with Olivia Culpo, Miss Rhode Island USA, being crowned Miss USA 2012. After Culpo won the title of Miss Universe last December, first runner-up Nana Meriwether, Miss Maryland USA, assumed the role of Miss USA 2012.

Miss Oklahoma and Miss South Carolina – Night one winners of the Miss America 2013 preliminary competition
The first night of preliminary competition for Miss America 2013 concluded on Tuesday night. The Talent winner is Miss Oklahoma, Alicia Clifton while the Lifestyle and Fitness winner is Miss South Carolina, Ali Rogers. The second night of preliminary competition is scheduled Wednesday night.
The new Miss America 2013 will be crowned on Saturday, January 12, 2013, during the live telecast from Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Giuliana Rancic and Andy Cohen to Cohost Miss Universe Pageant in December
Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Organization and NBC announced Tuesday that the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant will be cohosted by none other than E!’s very own Giuliana Rancic and Watch What Happens Live’s, Andy Cohen. The show will be brodcasted on NBC live from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday, December 19, 9pm EST/PST.
2013 Miss America Pageant to Air on ABC, Jan 12
ABC Television Network and Sam Haskell, Chairman of the Board of the Miss America Organization, have announced that “The 2013 Miss America Competition” returns to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for a week of preliminary competitions, culminating in a live telecast on SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2013 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.
“The 2012 Miss America telecast on ABC was a tremendous success, taking the ratings crown as the most-watched non-sports program on Saturday night,” said Haskell. “With the success of our re-branding Miss America, we have attracted a new audience. We look forward to working with ABC and Planet Hollywood to make the 2013 broadcast event even more memorable for our viewers.”
